Timeline of changes on campus

We want to maximize safety on campus, which is why we’re limiting access to some spaces or just keeping them closed. As the semester progresses or conditions change, we’ll adjust levels of access.

Nov. 30 - Feb. 7, 2021

What to expect during the intersession

Online instruction begins, and continues until partway into the spring semester.

Masks

Masks are mandatory in campus buildings (except when you’re alone in a private office/space), on campus transportation, and in outdoor spaces when physical distancing is difficult.

Campus access

IU buildings are open but are card-access only. All students and employees must follow IU and local public health guidelines while on campus. Select buildings on each campus will be open for students to study and access Wi-Fi.

Remote working

To the extent consistent with the full performance of individuals’ job duties and offices’ responsibilities, limit the number of staff physically present on campus. Staff members should consult their supervisors to determine their work schedules and locations.

Faculty members should limit work on campus to the extent consistent with fulfilling their academic responsibilities.

Campus visitors

Visitors are only allowed on campus outdoors. See IU guidance for visitors.

Events & conferences

All in-person events and conferences need approval to take place. See IU events and conferences guidance.

Dorms & dining halls

Limited occupancy with permission. If you need to stay on campus during this time, you can submit a request to do so through your campus’ residence hall office.
