How IU will be teaching classes

Students can check their class schedules and see the format of each of their classes. Use the guide below to familiarize yourself with the various ways classes will be offered this fall.

Modes of instruction (what you'll see when registering for classes)
New international students are required to enroll in at least one face-to-face class (P, HY, IS, IN), while continuing students (including those transferring SEVIS records to IU or changing academic levels) may enroll in online-only courses.

Synchronous: Same time. Classes are held on a set schedule, and students virtually attend an instructor-led session on a regular basis at specific times on specific days.

Asynchronous: Any time. Students can study and access instructional material at any time. The instructor still establishes the course schedule with specific due dates that students must follow.
